Loughborough entrepreneur begins third Kickstarter campaign

Simon Lyons, a Product Design and The Studio graduate, has begun his third venture on Kickstarter to fund his new product Mobu: The World’s Most Versatile Cable Clip.

Mobu is an innovative product created to tackle everyday challenges, retailing at £6. The design promises to stop cables and earphones tangling, prevent them from slipping off your desk, as well as eliminating the wasted time winding and unwinding your cables.

Based in The Studio, a graduation commercialisation hub in Loughborough, Simon has built an easy, portable fix to an age-old problem. Instead of the fiddly, time-consuming cable tidies already on the market, Mobu does away with cable tangling with style and speed, by snapping together to store, and pulling apart to use.

The Kickstarter campaign for Mobu quickly reached over 50% of its £10,000 target after only one day. The campaign advertises a range of pledge options, offering various packs of Mobu for supporters who donate to the fund.

Simon has been entirely funded by numerous awards, including Loughborough’s business ideas competitions Think BIG and Launch-it, Nesta, Shell Live Wire and Santander Universities Entrepreneurial Undergraduate of the Year.

Simon’s work has been featured in The Times, Sunday Times, Telegraph, Guardian and BBC. His last product, Nimble, overfunded by 695% and is sold in 80 countries.
