Loughborough achieves environmental management re-accreditation

Loughborough University has achieved re-accreditation to ISO 14001 for environmental management, including an upgrade to the new ISO 14001: 2015 standard.

In addition, Loughborough achieved its best audit results to date and the Loughborough University London campus and Imago Venues have now been encompassed into the accreditation.

ISO 14001:2015 specifies the requirements for an Environmental Management System (EMS) that an organisation can use to manage its environmental responsibilities in a systematic manner, fulfil its compliance obligations, and enhance its environmental performance.

Maintaining this standard provides the best opportunity for Loughborough to manage its environmental responsibilities across two inspiring campuses. It also supports the ambition in the University Strategy to ‘embed sustainability and social responsibility into all our processes, operations and developments.’

As part of the EMS, the University must endeavour to ensure all staff and students are aware of their role in supporting the management of its environmental impacts.

The Environmental Essentials eLearning course provides an ideal opportunity for staff and students to understand the work of the sustainability team, the environmental aspects of the campus, key compliance obligations and how to help.

The course can be accessed via Learn. It is straightforward and can be completed in a short coffee break. Loughborough University London versions are also available.

Once you have completed the course and passed a short test, it is logged on your my.HR training record. The version for staff on grades 1-2 has no test and only needs to be completed.

Those completing the course and passing the test (if applicable) before 31 October 2017 will be entered into a prize draw. Prizes include vouchers, Loughborough Gold honey, Loughborough Cups and more.
