NT Live: Hamlet comes to Loughborough

LU Arts will host an encore screening of National Theatre Live: Hamlet on Thursday 26 October at the Cope Auditorium from 7pm.

Benedict Cumberbatch, known for previous roles in films including Doctor Strange and the Imitation Game, takes the title role in this great Shakespeare tragedy which has earned him his third Laurence Olivier Awards nomination.

Directed by Lyndsey Turner and produced by Sonia Friedman Productions, Hamlet tells the powerful story of a royal family who breaks apart as the country prepares for war. As Hamlet seeks revenge, he threatens not only his sanity but the security of the state too.

Time Out describes Hamlet as “One of the most visually and atmospherically stunning productions I’ve ever seen, of anything, ever” (★★★) with the Daily Telegraph commenting, “Benedict Cumberbatch is a blazing five-star Hamlet” (★★★★).

The performance has a certificate of 12a.
