Creative Community Day taking place at Loughborough University

Loughborough University is hosting a Creative Community Day on Saturday 28 October 2017.

The event aims to inspire people of all ages; from budding artists and writers to those who would like a more in-depth understanding of the creativity that happens here on campus.

Taking place at Martin Hall from 1pm-5pm, the event will see a host of fun, informal and creative activities linked to subject areas such as art, design, drama and English. These include arts and crafts, live music and book swaps. A number of the activities are being supported and run by the University’s School of Arts, English and Drama.

A variety of demonstrations and workshops will also take place, including a Creating Calm workshop, which involves making glitter jars as a relaxation exercise, and New Technologies in Jewellery-Making. Participants can also join a campus art trail and take part in a poetry competition.

LU Arts will host a workshop led by artist Rebecca Lee to highlight the upcoming Radar programme.

The full programme of events is available on the website, here.

Dr Sophie-Louise Hyde and Katy Noble of Loughborough University’s School and College Liaison team, who are organising the event, commented: “We’re really excited about this event as it is the first time we’ve run this type of annual Community Day in connection with Loughborough’s creative arts subjects.

“The range of activities on offer is fantastic - we’ve got everything from face painting through to creative writing workshops, so there really is something for everyone.

“We hope that people come away from the event feeling inspired by the creativity that happens at Loughborough.”

The event is free for everyone to attend, but it is recommended that guests register in advance in order to gain quicker entry on the day and to reserve spaces on those workshops with limited capacity.

Pre-event information for visitors, which includes recommendations for travel to and from the event, is available here.

Those interested in bringing a school group are asked to contact the School and College Liaison team via email: scl@lboro.ac.uk.
