Speech Bubble series returns

Speech Bubble will be making a return this academic year, starting on Monday 4 December at Loughborough Students’ Union.

This event is open to both experienced and inexperienced performing poets who wish to take to the stage to show what they’ve got. Alongside open mic slots in the evening, there will also be two special guests taking to the stage.

The first is writer, actor and two-time national poetry slam champion, Ben Norris. He regularly performs at festivals and major venues across the UK, including Latitude and the Proms at the Royal Albert Hall and is due to tour Australia next year.

Maria Ferguson will also be performing on the night. Like Ben, Maria has travelled across the country, showcasing at events including Bestival and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Both have had their work supported by the BBC and they will be providing a workshop prior to the event which will focus on discussions around poetry, starting at 5:30pm and finishing at 6:30pm.

The main show will take place at 7:30pm on Monday 4 December at Cognitos, in the Students’ Union. It is free for students and £4 on the door for the general public.

If you are interested in performing on the night, or for more information about the event, visit the LU Arts website.
