STEM Community Day 2017 celebrates British Science Week
Loughborough University is running STEM Community Day on 25 March to celebrate British Science Week 2017.
The popular annual event returns to campus, inviting people of all ages to get involved with a series of hands-on activities, workshops, demonstrations and mini-lectures celebrating all things STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics).
Activities are suitable for school-aged children, but are fun and engaging for everyone. Participants can try their hand at creating electrical circuits, find out how to become a ‘citizen scientist’, walk on custard and play the piano with fruit; learning from academics and current students in STEM-related departments within the University.
British Science Week is a UK-wide programme of events and activities celebrating science, technology, engineering and maths, taking place 10 – 19 March 2017.
Katy Noble, Student Recruitment Officer at the University, said: “We’re excited to present a day of interactive, engaging events which really show the wide variety of STEM-related subjects – from the things we come across in our everyday lives, to the ground-breaking research that takes place here at Loughborough.”
The event is free to attend and runs from 1pm – 5pm on 25 March in the Stewart Mason building on the Loughborough University campus.
