University Supports Reserves Day 2017 - #SaluteOurForces

Today marks the annual Reserves Day, an opportunity to recognise and appreciate the important part Reservists play in supporting the UK’s defence.

The day offers the chance to celebrate and take pride in the members of our national Reserve Forces.

Reservists play a crucial role alongside Regulars in meeting Defence requirements, whether this is medical, cyber, or otherwise.

The Reservist community is diverse, being deployed in operational theatres worldwide and undertaking various and sometimes dangerous roles. Being part of the Reserves team can offer a range of extraordinary new experiences and the development of skills not normally available in day-to-day life.

In 2016, Loughborough University pledged its support for the Armed Forces community by signing a new covenant. By doing so, the University has agreed to support members of the Reserves, local cadet forces and Armed Forces Day.

The University encourages you to show your support for the Reservists by tweeting with the #SaluteOurForces hashtag. You can also get involved in the ‘Who’s your office hero’ campaign, taking to social media to celebrate colleagues, family members, or friends who are members of the Armed Forces community.
