Loughborough to host international psychology conference
The ISCHP conference brings together health scholars who are interested in exploring ongoing and emerging issues in critical research, critical theory and critical practice in relation to health and health care. The conference themes are:
- Ageing
- Diversity and Inclusivity
- Innovations in Critical Theory and Method
- Mental Health
Loughborough will welcome researchers and psychologists from 23 countries, including the United States, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, China, France, Germany, Iceland, India, Indonesia, Iran, Israel, Jamaica, Japan, Netherlands, New Zealand, Slovakia, South Africa, Switzerland and Taiwan.
The event has been organised by Elizabeth Peel, Professor of Communication and Social Interaction at Loughborough’s School of Social, Political and Geographical Sciences, alongside colleagues Dr Laura Thompson and Kathrina Connabeer, and Dr Gemma Witcomb and Dr Carolyn Plateau of the School of Sport, Exercise and Health Sciences.
Professor Peel commented: “I am delighted that the Centre for Research in Communication and Culture is welcoming speakers and delegates from around the world to the 10th biennial International Society of Critical Health Psychology conference.
“The academic programme is very stimulating, with a range of presentations addressing the themes of ageing, mental health, diversity and inclusivity, and innovations in critical theory and method. The local organising committee and I anticipate a supportive, engaging and fun scientific meeting, which furthers international collaborations in health and wellbeing.”
