Loughborough team’s success in Atos IT Competition

A team of Loughborough students have been awarded second place in the international Atos IT Competition, with their digital voting app.

The design competition, which is now in its sixth year, saw 77 student teams from at least 19 countries put forward their ideas to the judges. The winners were announced at the 2017 Atos IT Challenge award ceremony in Paris.

Matthew Elphick, Michael Filford and Dhanesh Mistry created ‘Evoto’, an app which facilitated secure, transparent digital voting. The app can be used broadly, but is focussed on businesses, unions and governments. The team impressed the judges with their modern vision for voting, while fulfilling the brief.

To reach the final stages, judges were looking for the benefits for users, technical quality and originality amongst criteria, all of which Loughborough impressed with.

By coming second, the team won $5000 and the opportunity to apply for a role as ‘IT Challenge’ HR Contact, working directly within Atos.

Atos is a global leader in digital transformation with revenue of over $12billion.
