Graduate entrepreneurs’ Kickstarter campaign underway

Two Loughborough graduates have launched a Kickstarter campaign for their award-winning British female ski and snowboard brand, SNOOKS.

The outerwear brand was co-founded by Sophie Kelly and Susie Beere in 2014 when they were studying at the University. They are now members of The Studio - Graduate Commercialisation Hub.

In 2016, the pair won the Baldwins Accountants Kickstart Young Entrepreneurs Award and the Leicester Mercury Women in Business Award for New Business of the Year.

Launched earlier this month, the campaign (as of Friday 21 July) has reached just short of £15,000 of their £30,000 goal from more than 200 backers, with just 12 days to go.

It marks the next stage of the company’s development, and if successfully funded, proceeds will go towards increasing production, product research, manufacturing and distribution across Europe.

Speaking about the crowdfunding effort, Co-Founder Susie Beere said: “We’re out to encourage more girls into challenging themselves in snow and action sports, as well as life. We try to reflect that ethos in our brand and in every product we make.

“Our Kickstarter is designed to put our customers at the forefront of how SNOOKS develops in the coming months and years and we’re so excited to see the results.”
