Seminar on life-writing within the Spanish anarchist movement

Loughborough University staff and students are invited to a talk on life-writing within the Spanish anarchist movement.

On Wednesday 13 December, Dr James Yeoman of the University of Sheffield will deliver ‘Writing the Revolutionary Self: Memoir and Autobiography in the Spanish Anarchist Movement’ in the Herbert Manzoni building.

Dr Yeoman’s paper on the topic draws upon historical works on selfhood and ‘ego-documents’ and focuses on the autobiography of the eminent publisher and theorist Federico Urales as an example of anarchist life-writing.

The paper aims to demonstrate that anarchist testimony can be used as a means of investigating the creation of identity through self-writing.

The research seminar is attached to the University’s Department of Politics, History and International Relations and the Anarchist Research Group (ARG) collective.

The ARG, based in the School of Social, Political and Geographical Sciences, provides a space for discussion, exploration and analysis of anarchist ideas and practices.

The talk will be held in K.1.05, starting at 5pm, and is free to attend. For further information, email: S.Averill@Lboro.ac.uk
