Students invited to discuss Prevent strategy with National Lead

Students are invited to get involved in an open discussion on the government’s Prevent strategy on campus next week. The strategy has drawn significant national interest and is part of a wider government counter-terrorism strategy, which aims to prevent people being drawn into terrorism.

The event, which is being hosted by Student Services, will feature Simon Cole, Chief Constable for Leicester and the National Lead for Prevent as well as other prominent figures from the local authority and the Home Office.

Students are encouraged to attend and will have the opportunity to discuss the government’s Prevent strategy, debate the University’s reponse to this and share their opinions with senior figures.

The event is running on Monday 28 November, 4 – 6pm in the Council Chamber, Hazlerigg Building. It is free to attend and some light refreshments will be provided.
