Aeronautical and Automotive Engineers win national competition

Aeronautical and Automotive Engineers from the University have won a national competition to engage students in engineering.

Engineers will work alongside students aged 9 – 11 from Aston-on-Trent Primary School to build, design and race their own electric car.

The competition is organised by the Advanced Propulsion Centre (APC) in collaboration with Greenpower to inspire a future generation of engineers across the UK.

The Greenpower Education Trust looks to address the skills gap that is growing in the UK automotive industry by engaging students in engineering at a young age. Further support has been provided from the Engineering and Physical Science Research Council (EPSRC) and the APC Spoke Community.

Six other schools from across the UK are also involved in the competition and each are working with engineers from different academic institutions to complete the project.
