Lightning continue push for the play-offs this Bank Holiday Monday

Loughborough Lightning are gearing up to take on Hertfordshire Mavericks this Bank Holiday Monday at Loughborough University’s Sir David Wallace Arena, eager to get revenge following the 49-44 defeat they suffered earlier in the season.

Lightning fought hard throughout the whole game and it was a tight encounter, with Mavericks just taking the win. An unfortunate season-ending injury to former Mavericks player, Sasha Corbin, added further disappointment on the day.

Since then, Lightning have had an up and down season, whereas Mavericks have only lost once to Manchester Thunder. However, following back-to-back victories over Yorkshire Jets and Celtic Dragons, Lightning will be full of confidence taking on last year’s finalists in front of another fantastic home crowd.

Lightning fans will be eager to see Kadeen Corbin take on her old team for the first time, after her recovery from an injury that prevented her from playing in the first game. It is likely to be an exciting match up on court against the Mavericks captain Layla Guscoth playing at Goal Defence.

Another key rivalry will be between the two Goal Shooters; Lightning favourite Peace Proscovia and Samantha Wallace for the Mavericks. Both shooters are currently the 2nd and 3rd highest scorers in the whole competition, having both scored over 250 goals. With shooting stats well over 80%, it is sure to be a thrilling and high-scoring game!
