Postgraduate research conference heading to Loughborough

Loughborough University’s Graduate School is set to host the 2016 East Midlands University Association (EMUA) postgraduate research student conference.

The conference, taking place on 1 September, provides the opportunity for postgraduates to promote their work, network with other postgraduate research students from the East Midlands, and gain insight into what it is like to attend an academic conference.

The theme for the 2016 conference is ‘Inspiring Futures’ and as part of the event, postgraduate research students are invited to present their research, either by poster or oral presentation, and explain how it can inspire a better future.  This could be by designing a solution to a specific problem, discovering a new way of working, opening up a new way of thinking about a subject, or inspiring others to make change in the world.

There are a very limited number of oral and poster presentation slots available.  To apply for a presentation, postgraduates should fill in the form on the EMUA Conference website. The submission deadline is 7 July and all successful applicants will be notified week commencing 25th July 2016.

The conference is taking place at the West Park Teaching Hub from 10.00 am until 3.30 pm with registration and refreshments from 9.00 am.  Oral presentations will take place throughout the day with the opportunity to view posters during breaks and the networking lunch.

The event will conclude with an East Midlands 3 Minute Thesis (3MT) competition, which will be populated by the best 3MT speakers from participating Universities.  Postgraduates who would like to attend the conference should register through the ‘Book Now’ tab on the Conference Website. The deadline for registering for the event is 24 August 2016.
