World’s best cricketers to compete at Loughborough

There are just two weeks to go until Loughborough hosts the world’s best women’s cricketers, with the inaugural KIA Super League commencing in August.

Loughborough Lightning is one of the six teams competing and will play their home fixtures on the University’s campus at the Haslegrave Cricket Ground.

The first match is on Wednesday 3rd August against Lancashire Thunder. Gates open at 3pm for a 4.30 start.

The Lightning squad includes England internationals Georgia Elwiss (pictured) and Amy Jones, alongside Sophie Devine from New Zealand, South African captain Dane van Niekerk, and the ICC’s number 1 ranked all-rounder Australian Ellyse Perry.

Alongside the match there will be a carnival atmosphere around the ground, including a bar, catering, cricket activities and Lightning merchandise on sale.

Advance tickets purchased online are £5 for University staff members and students, and just £1 for under 16’s for the first match.
