New senior posts appointed

The following members of staff will be taking on the role as Acting Deans until permanent appointments are made.                       

Professor David Deacon

Dean of Social, Political and Geographical Sciences

Professor David Deacon is a professor of Communication and Media Analysis. He has written widely on theoretical and methodological issues relating to Communication and Media studies and is the co-author of a leading international book on media and cultural research methods.

Professor Deacon has conducted several major studies into journalism and public relations. These studies have revealed the complex, context-dependent nature of relations between journalists and their sources, but also the structural limitations imposed upon and evident within the performance of the news media. 

Professor Stewart Robinson

Acting Dean of School of Business and Economics

Professor Stuart Robinson started his career as a business analyst for a shoe retailing company and then as a consultant with ISTEL (now Lanner Group). In 1992, Stewart moved to Aston Business School where he lectured in Operations and Information Management.  Stewart then spent 13 years at Warwick Business School (1998-2011).

Professor Robinson joined Loughborough University in July 2011 as Professor of Management Science.  He is also Chair of the Management Group for the Institute for Sports Research - a collaboration between Loughborough University and Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.

Professor George Havenith

Acting Dean of Loughborough Design School

Professor George Havenith is a professor of Environmental Physiology and Ergonomics and Director of the Environmental Ergonomics Research Centre. His research covers two main topic areas: Human Thermal Physiology / Environmental Ergonomics and, heat and mass (vapour) transfer through clothing. His special contribution to these fields is the multidisciplinary integration of physiology, physics and ergonomics.

Professor Havenith is widely published with over 250 publications in scientific books, journals and conference proceedings as well as over 100 consultancy research reports.  He is an editor of the 'European Journal of Applied Physiology', international editor for the' Journal of the Human-Environment System', and on the editorial board of 'Ergonomics', 'International Journal of Occupational Safety and Ergonomics' and 'Journal of Sports Engineering and Technology'.
