Academics and researchers receive prestigious Institution of Civil Engineers awards

Academics and researchers from the School of Civil and Building Engineering have received best paper awards from the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE).

The ICE awards recognise authors from both industry and academia who have produced work of exceptional quality, which benefit the civil engineering and science community.

Several University authors received awards at the annual ceremony held in London on 9 October.

Dr Alister Smith and Professor Neil Dixon were awarded the Thomas Telford Premium Prize for Best Paper in Journal for their paper in the Institution of Civil Engineers Géotechnique Letters journal.

Professor Neil Dixon, Dr Matthew Frost, Dr Paul Fleming, Dr Chris Crosby and Jo Wilks – a former PhD student - were awarded the Rees Jeffreys Award for Best Paper in Journal for their paper in the Institution of Civil Engineers Transport journal.

The work detailed in both papers was conducted in collaboration with researchers at the British Geological Survey.
