Business Minister officially opens Advanced Technology Innovation Centre

Business Minister, Anna Soubry, officially opened the Advanced Technology Innovation Centre (ATIC) today. She was joined by senior representatives of Charnwood Borough Council, Leicestershire County Council and the Leicester and Leicestershire Enterprise Partnership, all key partners in the expansion of Loughborough University Science and Enterprise Parks (LUSEP).

ATIC offers flexible office and lab space for growing businesses and is part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund.

Since opening last month, ATIC has attracted a constant stream of technology-focused start-ups and SMEs from Leicestershire and the wider midlands region. It is already 65% occupied.

Following the ceremony, visitors toured ATIC and met a number of the companies based there, including Eluxi (photonics), Nemaura Pharma (drug delivery) and Segura (ethical supply chain software).

The Ministerial visit to ATIC coincides with the launch of the inaugural Leicester Business Festival. Anna Soubry said: “I was delighted to visit the Advanced Technology Innovation Centre at Loughborough University and see first-hand how the facilities are helping small firms to grow and innovate. Leicestershire is a vital component in the Midlands engine for growth and that is why we are backing plans to boost investment and create more jobs for people in the area.”
