Return of ‘The Watchers’
Following its temporary loan to an exhibition in Germany, ‘The Watchers’ is set to return to the University today.
Lynn Chadwick’s, The Watchers, was displayed as part of an exhibition created by sculptor Tony Cragg. The Watchers was one of ten key works from Chadwick’s defining decades of the 1950s and 1960s displayed at Skulpturenpark Waldfrieden, Germany, earlier this year.
Born in 1914, Chadwick was one of the UK’s most significant post-war artists. He won the international prize for sculpture at the Venice Biennale in 1956 and was awarded the CBE in 1964.
