Loughborough to offer Chevening Scholarships to Brazilian students

Loughborough is to offer prestigious Chevening Scholarships to students from Brazil, as part of a new partnership announced in Rio de Janeiro by Alex Ellis, the British Ambassador to Brazil.

Two Chevening/Loughborough Olympic Legacy Scholarships will be offered each year for the next three years, starting in 2015-16. The Scholarships are aimed at students who wish to study for a one-year Master’s degree in sports management disciplines at Loughborough.

Chevening Scholarships are the UK government’s global scholarship programme, funded by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) and partner organisations, such as universities. The programme brings outstanding scholars from the around the world, who have the potential to become leaders, decision-makers and opinion-formers, to study postgraduate courses in the UK. Previous Chevening scholars have returned to their home countries to take up influential senior positions in government, governing bodies and industry.

Recipients of the Chevening/Loughborough Olympic Legacy Scholarships will be able to study either at the main Loughborough University campus or at Loughborough University London's Institute for Sport Business, which opens on Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park this autumn. The scholarships will cover the full cost of the students’ tuition fees and provide a living allowance.

Loughborough is one of just a handful of UK universities to offer a Chevening Partnership Award.
