Bringing science to life at British Science Week

The 10-day event offered people of all ages the opportunity to take part in free workshops and interactive demonstrations which aimed to inspire, educate and ‘develop a natural curiosity for ‘how the world works’.’

Attracting well over 1,000 visitors, Loughborough staged activities for local schools from 16 to 19March on bridge building, sports psychology, solar energy, crime science and, soap science and business.

Campus activities concluded on Saturday 21March with a Community Fun Day. Members of the public experienced a variety of educational activities run by staff and students from a number of departments. Walking on custard, robots, giant bubble and the Loughborough Molecule Hunt were among the favourites and crowds were entertained by Fever, a Students Union group of fire jugglers.

Dr Siân Williams, Subject Outreach Specialist – STEM said: ‘I would like to extend a massive thank you to all of the contributors who made the day a fantastic success and something I was proud to be part of.’
