Where has ‘The Watchers’ gone?

Noticed a big, empty space outside the EHB?

Lynn Chadwick’s sculpture, The Watchers, is on temporary loan to an exhibition in Germany until 31 October 2015.

Sculptor Tony Cragg proposes to exhibit ten key works from Chadwick’s defining decades of the 1950s and 1960s at Skulpturenpark Waldfrieden, Germany. The Watchers will be exhibited outside in the sculpture park which covers 30 acres of one of the hills that surround the city.

The sculpture will sit alongside over two dozen other works from the collection of The Cragg Foundation and will be joined by three other monumental Chadwick works and six of his smaller scale pieces.

Born in 1914, Chadwick was one of the UK’s most significant post-war artists. He won the international prize for sculpture at the Venice Biennale in 1956 and was awarded the CBE in 1964.
