Professor develops BBC I-Wonder animation project

Professor Paul Wells, School of the Arts, English and Drama, has been working on a new animation timeline project for BBC I-Wonder.

The idea of the timeline is to provide interesting and potentially niche areas of knowledge for children, young people and wider animation-interested audiences.

The BBC have already received a number of enquiries about the timeline and as a result of the project, Professor Wells has been asked to help curate and advise on the Smallfilms exhibition at the V&A's Museum of Childhood next Spring.

Speaking of future projects, Professor Wells said: “I am fortunate that I get asked to do a lot of things - I am keynoting at the forthcoming 'Toy Story at 20' Conference and the 'Fantasy / Animation' Conference, and have been invited to conduct workshops on writing for children's animation at this year's 'Cinekid for Professionals' in Amsterdam this year.

“I have also been recently asked by the Association of Teachers of Media (ATOM) in Australia, to come for a tour next Summer to do lectures and workshops on various facets of Animation theory and practice. So, lots happening as usual!”
