Simon Lyons crowdfunds Geco Hub ahead of schedule!

Enterprising graduate Simon Lyons has already raised the funds he needs to manufacture Geco Hub, his stylish storage system, with days to spare.

Simon – who is being supported by the Studio, Loughborough’s graduate commercialisation hub – launched a Kickstarter campaign last month to help make Geco Hub a household product. His quirky and colourful storage system which stores the everyday things we tend to lose has appealed to backers worldwide, attracting interest from design blogs, as well as special interest groups such as campervan and boat owners.

Closer to home, a number of University departments have rushed to order Geco Hub for noticeboard and storage solutions in reception desks, labs and offices. Amongst the major departmental backers are the Studio, the Science and Enterprise Parks, the Students’ Union and the Wolfson School of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering. Simon graduated from Wolfson with a first class Product Design Engineering degree in 2013, so it’s a fitting tribute that the School will feature a number of Geco Hubs.

Anyone wishing to own one the first-ever run of Geco Hubs has until 4pm on Wednesday 3 September when Simon’s Kickstarter campaign closes.
