Loughborough swimmers selected for Commonwealth Games

Ten Loughborough based swimmers have been selected today by Team England for the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games.

Amy Smith, Francesca Halsall, Daniel Fogg, Liam Tancock and Roberto Pavoni, have attended previous Commonwealth Games and all will be looking to add to their collection of medals.

They will be joined by Elena Sheridan, Molly Renshaw, Rachael Kelly, Adam Barrett and James Wilby, who will be making their Commonwealth debuts.

Fran Halsall will be aiming to add to her collection of seven Commonwealth medals to date when she lines up for what will be her third Games.

"It's great to be going to another Commonwealth Games as part of Team England," Fran said.  "I’m sure Glasgow will put on a fantastic show and these Games will continue to be a good experience for me.”

Current Loughborough swimmers Aisha Thornton and Georgia Davies will also be competing at the Games, after being selected by Scotland and Wales.

Swimming at the Commonwealth Games takes place at Tollcross International Aquatic Centre from 24th to 29th July 2014.
