Former England cricket supremo to take on Loughborough based elite coaching role

The England and Wales Cricket Board has announced today that Andy Flower has been appointed as Technical Director of Elite Coaching, based at the National Cricket Performance Centre at Loughborough University.

Flower will have a wide-ranging role which will incorporate working with the next generation of England players and coaches as well as being charged with creating a leadership programme for young England players.

Flower stood down as England Team Director at the end of January after five years of unprecedented success and the ECB were keen to retain his services and coaching knowledge.

Paul Downton, Managing Director - England Cricket, said:

“The ECB is delighted that we are able to retain a man of Andy Flower's experience and quality.

"His record over the last five years speaks for itself and the ECB and Andy are excited about the future.”

Opened in 2003 on the University’s campus, the National Cricket Performance Centre has become the cornerstone in the development of cricketers across the England representative squads.

The facility is also utilised by current students involved in the Loughborough Cricket men’s and women’s programmes.
