Professorial appointment at LUiL

James Skinner has been appointed as Professor of Sport Management and Director of the Institute for Sport Business, one of six new Institutes being established as part of Loughborough University in London.

Professor Skinner took up his new post on 21 July. Prior to this appointment, James was a Professor of Sport Management and Head of Department within the Griffith Business School, Griffith University, Australia. In 2013 he was elected as a Director and Board Member of Football Queensland, a member affiliate of the Football Federation of Australia, responsible for the strategic direction and development of the code in Queensland, Australia.

Professor Skinner’s research interests are in leadership, culture, and change in sport, doping in sport, sport and social capital, and research design and methods. In conjunction with colleagues he has received external research funding form the Australian Research Council, the World Anti-Doping Agency, the Australian Federal Government’s Anti-Doping Research Program and the Australian Sport Commission.

Professor Skinner has published numerous books, book chapters and journal articles. He has been an invited speaker at international and national conferences and has worked as a consultant to international, national and state governing bodies of sport, professional sporting organisations, the Australian Sports Commission, as well as Federal and State government departments.
