Work starts on new health and fitness centre
Work has started on the University’s new £5.6m health and fitness centre adjacent to the Loughborough University Stadium at the West end of campus.
The new complex includes an 860sqm health and fitness gym, two fitness studios, and a new sports hall that will provide four badminton courts, as well as basketball, netball and volleyball activity. State-of-the art equipment will be supplied by fitness specialists Technogym.
There will also be separate changing rooms for the sports hall and the fitness complex, as well as a lounge and break out areas.
The new facility will support the University’s ambitious target of having 75% of students being physically active at least three times a week. Once completed, the complex will increase capacity and allow for approximately 5,000 members.
The new centre is scheduled to open in October 2014.
