We broke the record… we think!

Jumper staff

More than 1,000 people gathered at the new Shirley Pearce Square, near Martin Hall, on 10 December for the Christmas Jumper world record attempt in aid of Save the Children.

Spirits were high among the 1,175 as they waited for everyone to be counted in, singing along to Loughborough Campus radio and enjoying food and drink from the surrounding Christmas market stalls.

“We did beat the current, verified, world record of 639 and we raised at least £2,500 for Save the Children – it was a fantastic day!” said Sarah Harr, the event organiser.

We’ll have to wait for a while yet to find out if we officially broke the Guinness World Record but confidence is high!

Thanks to everyone who took part.
