Part time working

Can I flex the days I work?

To allow the correct calculation of holiday entitlement part-time workers have  fixed working the days they work each week and not vary them from week to week. However, if on occasion some flexibility about the days you work would benefit you, you can discuss this with your manager. You will not be asked to come in on days that are designated as your non-working days except in the most exceptional of circumstances.

I work part time. Can I spend all my time working at home?

No. The expectation is that all staff will work some of their contracted hours on campus.

I work four days per week. Will I need to work two and a half days on campus to make sure I’m working on campus more than remotely?

Most people will spend more time on campus. Your manager will determine what proportion of your role needs to be performed on campus to maintain operational effectiveness and team spirit. Exceptionally this could be less than 50% in some cases.

I am finding that I am doing more than my contracted hours when working remotely. What should I do about this?

Working remotely should not increase the number of hours you need to work to do your job properly. If it does, you should discuss this with your manager in the first instance and agree what adjustments that need to be made.
