Update for students 22 September at 4pm

Dear Students

I am writing to you following the Government’s announcement that the national Covid-19 Alert Level has been raised to 4.

The University intends to resume the new academic year on campus. You will know from our previous messages that we are intending to operate as much teaching and learning in person as is permissible and reasonable under the Government’s rules. We will email you again later today about our arrangements for other aspects such as sport and social activities.

The Vice-Chancellor (VC Bob) will write to you later this week with details about what this may mean in practice given the change in the Covid-19 Alert Level and the Prime Minister’s announcements today.

I wanted to send a clear message to you today that you should continue with your plans to come to campus and begin or resume your studies. These are challenging times. Things will be different but we are committed to giving all of our students the opportunity to move forwards with their lives in as safe and secure way as possible. It is critical that all students follow the University’s Golden Covid Rules.

Please take care and we very much look forwards to seeing you.
