Update to staff - 22 May at 12pm
Last week, the Chief Operating Officer sent an email to all staff, outlining how the University is taking steps towards the resumption of activity on-campus both in Loughborough and London. Please ensure that you have read and follow the guidance provided by Richard Taylor.
I met earlier this week with Paula Griffiths and Nicola Paine, two academic colleagues in the School of Sport, Exercise and Health Sciences, who are undertaking significant research into Covid-19. I shall say more about their work in my monthly newsletter next week but one thing is very clear: our actions save lives. Put another way, if we follow guidelines and behave responsibly when on campus it will protect our community.
Next week our students will begin taking their remote assessments. I know that many of you have worked incredibly hard to put in place the processes and systems required to make the assessments run smoothly. Many more of you will be supporting our students academically, technically and emotionally as they prepare for their assessments. There is then marking to be done. Whatever your role, thank you.
The future perhaps now holds a glimmer of hope and I shall say more about the direction of travel for the University next week. Right now, the weather is set fair for the Bank Holiday weekend and hopefully we shall all be able to find time to relax in the sunshine. Some colleagues will still be working on campus, something that I know the rest of us recognise and appreciate.
Thank you again for all you continue to do to support our University, each other and our students.
