LU Symposium for Anti-Racism
Wednesday 12 February 2025 | 2-4pm | West Park Teaching Hub
In May 2022, Loughborough was awarded our Bronze Race Equality Charter (REC) award. In February 2025, we mark the mid-way point in our REC cycle with Loughborough University’s first Symposium for Anti-Racism.
The Symposium for Anti-Racism will be an opportunity for the institution reflect on the initial priorities laid out in our REC action plan and take stock of our progress - to celebrate our achievements; to re-state our commitment to becoming an anti-racist institution; and to outline our next steps on this journey.
The event is open to staff, students, and internal and external partners.
Event Schedule
The event will begin at 2:00pm in WPTH 003. Please register at the desk on arrival.
We begin with a welcome address from Provost Professor Rachel Thomson.
This is followed by a panel discussion: A reflection on Loughborough's anti-racism journey. Facilitate by Lidya Berhe, Psychology BSc, with Chief Operating Officer Richard Taylor, Director of EDI Services Veronica Moore and Senior Lecturer in Entrepreneurship and anti-racism and intersectionality expert Dr Angela Martinez Dy.
We then invite you to explore an exhibition of race equity work being carried out by staff and students at Loughborough University. Refreshments will also be served in the exhibition space.
