Dominic Hensman – Clayesmore School
BA Industrial Design and Technology
Dominic joined Clayesmore as a Design and Technology Teaching Assistant, and immediately immersed himself in the life of the school.
As well as a full timetable supporting pupils across Years Nine to 13, he developed a new Key Stage Three scheme of work that imaginatively introduced 13-year-old students to sustainability.
His after-school clubs – three evenings a week – were very popular. One group was tasked with the design and realisation of a large commissioned sculpture based on the school emblem – due to be installed this summer.
Dominic received specific safe-guarding training and volunteered to participate in pupil pastoral support. He took on Boarding House duties one evening a week and was an outstanding role-model, effectively supporting pupils in their emotional and behavioural development.
