Industrial Design Technology, 2012

doppel is wearable technology that works with your body’s natural response to rhythm to change how you feel, keeping you calm and focused.

The wristband generates a rhythm that is felt on the inside of the wrist. Like listening to music, a fast rhythm improves alertness, and a slower rhythm is calming. But doppel is silent, allowing the wearer to focus because there’s no noise and no distraction.

doppel's award-winning technology has been scientifically tested and approved by hundreds of people who have used it during a range of activities including to aid focus at work, to stay calm in stressful situations, and to set a pace while exercising.

Its empathic technology is the next step for wearables. Instead of simply monitoring, doppel brings together well-being, mindfulness and technology.

doppel was created by Nell Bennett (Design), Andreas Bilicki (Technology), Jack Hooper (Strategy) and Fotini Markopoulou (Research and Testing) who met during their postgraduate studies on the Innovation Design Engineering joint MSc/MA at Imperial College London and the Royal College of Art.

As well as running a successful Kickstarter campaign, the team have won a number of accolades including the Pitch@Palace People’s Choice Award 2015, the ICTomorrow Wearables Technologies Innovation Contest 2015, and being selected as one of the top five Products of the Year in the Innovator of the Year Award 2015.
