Loughborough Area of Innovation

University-led growth; exemplar implementation of the Industrial Strategy:
Building a Britain fit for the future

This initiative is built around an inspirational vision shared by the University and many local partners for driving economic growth and greater productivity in the dynamic and forward-looking wider Loughborough area that is at the geographical heart of the UK.

Partnerships for prosperity

Engaged partners working together across the private, public, voluntary and educational sectors can and will achieve sustained inclusive growth. These partnerships are key to ‘building a Britain fit for the future’, whatever challenges and opportunities the future brings.

The prospectus that sets out this ambition and an agenda for action features a Foreword by The Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy.

We look to engage with partners, to start conversations and explore opportunities, and to understand how we might collectively make this vision a reality.

Identifying key priorities for increasing productivity and driving growth

August 2019

Since launching the vision, industry leaders and opinion formers have made valuable input at summit meetings addressing the five foundations in the Industrial Strategy – and how they relate to the area centred around Loughborough and the wider East Midlands.

A summary of these meetings is available below. Building on the helpful and instructive insights, a short Action Plan will be published later this year.
