Brett Friskney - Lubrizol
Brett Friskney (Mechanical Engineering, 2018) joined the Applied Sciences Department at Lubrizol’s Hazelwood site in Derbyshire, and rapidly proved himself a capable engineer and scientist.
Focusing on engine valvetrain wear, Brett’s rigorous work highlighted and explained the benefits associated with certain lubricant additives – supporting their use to enhance Lubrizol products.
The company acknowledges that his findings are of significant market value to them.
Brett was invited to present at a number of forums and his work was very well received. These events also allowed him to network with colleagues across the company and discuss the feasibility of a potential project around the simulation of engine oil contaminants.
As a result of positive discussions, he created a comprehensive project plan, and his successful pitch to senior technology staff secured funding for the work which is now on-going.
As part of Lubrizol’s Creating Shared Value programme, Brett acted as a STEM Ambassador, representing the company at outreach events across the region.
