What does research training involve?

Your PhD study aims to provide a sound foundation for future research and career opportunities. You may be required to attend postgraduate Research Methods lectures and lab classes (2-4 hours per week) as part of your research training and you will also be encorouged to attend appropriate conferences and to submit poster and oral presentations.

Students initially register for the MPhil and, subject to satisfactory performance, progress to PhD study. Progress is discussed and asssessed at an annual review meeting. At the end of your studies you will be required to submit a written thesis and attend a viva-voce examination.

MPhil: 2 years full-time; 3 years part-time
PhD: 3 years full-time; 5 years part-time.

Entry Qualification

Applicants are normally required to have at least a 2:1 degree at undergraduate level. Having a Masters degree is advantagous in terms of experience and research training.
