The prevalence of overweight and obesity is increasing at an alarming rate. Current weight management interventions often require participants to make large behavioural changes that are difficult to integrate into everyday life and maintain over time. Traditional weight management interventions are effective in the short term but are often associated with weight re-gain. A small change approach requires participants to make only small changes to reduce caloric intake and/or increase energy expenditure by 100 to 200kcal per day. This approach could be an effective solution for weight management that is sustainable in the long term.
