Sport Management alumnus helps relaunch University BME Staff Network
Claud Williams was on hand to host the relaunch of the Loughborough University Black & Minority Ethnic (BME) Staff Network on 21 November.
The relaunch follows the University’s commitment to the Race Equality Charter, which was signed in April 2018.
Claud, who graduated with a degree in BSc in Sport Management in 2012, was joined at the event by the Network’s Co-Chair, Veronica Moore as well as BME staff and a variety of guest speakers, including the University’s Chief Operating Officer, Richard Taylor. Multi-cultural dancers and singers also performed.
Speaking at the event, Claud was quick to stress the importance of diversity in the alumni community:
“Loughborough has one of the best diversity networks in the world, and diversity is the key to success.
“It’s really important that we take advantage of the different cultures, skills and knowledge of our alumni to help students and other members of the alumni community.”
Claud, who owns a range of businesses, also works for the University in The Studio, aiming to help graduates develop sustainable businesses. At the event, he promoted the benefits of alumni volunteering for current students and recent graduates:
“Loughborough students both past and present have played in important role in helping me build all of my businesses.
“It’s a very beneficial experience for me to be able to give something back, whilst at the same time continuing to learn myself.”
