Richard Allen, Director of Football at Loughborough University, will bring Talent ID expertise to Loughborough's new Sport Agent Programme

Richard Allen is the latest expert to be named as part of the programme team delivering Loughborough University's new Professional Certificate Programme for Sports Agents.

Richard was earlier this year appointed as Director of Football at Loughborough University, a newly created post overseeing the delivery of international coaching programmes and leading the development of the football workforce of the future. He came to the role having spent three years as the FA's Head of Talent Identification and, prior to that, serving both QPR and Tottenham Hotspur in high-profile roles connected to talent identification, recruitment and development.

Alongside his role with Loughborough Sport, Richard continues to deliver Talent ID Workshops and education sessions at professional clubs and for various National Associations and is often asked to speak on the subject at conferences. He also continues to support the FA’s Talent ID programme co-running the Level 4 Heads of Recruitment Course (Talent Leadership, Management, Strategy in Football) and delivering on the Level 2, Talent ID in Football Course.

Dr Serhat Yilmaz, Director of the new programme that seeks to raise the professional standard of the agent market through education, says that Richard Allen's long-standing expertise in talent ID makes him "a great addition to the programe team".

Speaking last week, Dr Yilmaz said:

"The number of agents within the sport industry has significantly increased over the years, but there is still a lack of constructive initiatives helping them to develop and maintain knowledge and skills to operate in a very dynamic and international transfer market.

"The programme aims to fill this gap, and is staffed by some of the industry’s most experienced legal practitioners and serving professionals."

The Professional Certificate Programme for Sports Agents is believed to be the first partnership of its kind between a higher education institution and professional trade organisation.
