Sport Science with Management graduate Charlie Regis, and business parter Lucas Poelman, take home £10,000 prize for their start-up company

School of Sport, Exercise and Health Sciences graduate Charlie Regis and his business partner Lucas Poelman have recently become the recipients of a £10,000 prize for their start-up company, Styliff. Winners of the Big Ideas competition, the alumni are co-founders of the new health and data app.

Styliff is an Insurance Tech company based in London, Silicon Valley and São Paulo. The app aims to calculate health risks based on clothing size and BMI, which is an indicator of future medical claims.

The app has been used in conjunction with clients such as Lidl. Employees enter their body shape and size when ordering work uniform, resulting in lower returns. Although the Styliff company began as a fashion based business, it is now interlinked with health insurance.

The Big Ideas competition was hosted by RGAx, one of the world's largest life and health reinsurance companies, who worked in association with Cover to launch the Dragon’s Den-style competition.

The competition aimed to unlock business ideas and offer financial and entrepreneurial support to the winners. Styliff’s prize money will be used to further develop analytics, research and development of the product.

Also part of the ABC accelerator programme in Silicon Valley, the app has already evolved into three different versions since its launch in 2014.

Charlie and Lucas met whilst playing professional tennis at Loughborough University and became European Doubles Champions during their studies. They now work with the founder of Styliff, Grega Trobec. Charlie works primarily as the Sales Exec and Lucas works on Business Development.

Charlie graduated with a degree in Sports Science with Management in 2015. Lucas studied International Business at Loughborough until 2016 and was also a finalist in the Universities Placement Awards for his work at Styliff.

The alumni have also been named as ‘Founders of the Future’, a new network consisting of young entrepreneurs that aims to uncover talent and accelerate entrepreneurship.

The School of Sport, Exercise and Health Sciences congratulates Charlie and Lucas on their recent success.
