Dr João Oliveira
Lecturer in Marketing and Retailing
Dr João Oliveira’s main research focus is International Marketing Strategy. Specific topics include Intra-Firm Variations in Export Performance; Levels of Analysis in Export Performance; Export Marketing Strategy Standardisation/Adaptation; and Export Strategic Fit. He also conducts research in other areas, such as Export Market Orientation, Services Marketing, and Digital Marketing.
Dr Oliveira has published in the International Marketing Review and in the International Business Review, and has presented his work at international conferences such as Academy of Marketing, Academy of International Business (AIB-UKI Chapter), and European Marketing Academy (EMAC). Dr Oliveira acts as peer reviewer for the Journal of International Marketing, the International Marketing Review, and the European Journal of Marketing, on an ad-hoc basis.
In 2010 Dr Oliveira received the Best Paper Award for his paper on “Antecedents of Intra-Firm Variation in Export Performance”, presented at the Academy of Marketing Conference (Coventry, UK).
He is a Member of the American Marketing Association, a UK Legate for the Global Innovation and Knowledge Academy (GIKA), and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy in recognition of attainment against the UK Professional Standards Framework for Teaching and Learning Support in Higher Education.
