Giovanni Calice is a Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor) in Finance in the School of Business and Economics at Loughborough University. He previously taught, as tenured faculty member, at the University of Birmingham and at the University of Southampton. He obtained his PhD in Economics from the University of Bath.

Giovanni has written extensively on systemic risk and is a leading expert on credit derivatives markets. His work has been published in world's leading academic journals in finance and economics. He acts as referee for several top scholarly journals in finance and economics.

Giovanni’s research interests span several areas, including financial innovation, financial institutions, asset pricing and derivative security markets. His recent research focuses on analysis of sovereign credit risk, measures of systemic risk in the financial sector and credit derivatives markets.
