Professor Mat Hughes has received the 2020 Schulze Publication Award for his work on how family businesses have adapted to COVID-19.

The Schulze Awards are given to the Entrepreneur & Innovation Exchange and FamilyBusiness.org articles that have had the most impact.

This award was given to Professor Hughes’ commentary entitled “Resilience to Resurgence: How to Grow Your Way Out of the Crisis”, which has received over 19,000 views. It forms part of a series of articles by Professor Hughes explaining what research can tell us about how family businesses have coped during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The article is a commentary on a discussion between Professor Hughes and Dr Leonardo Lim, who is currently assisting UK and Korean SMEs to scale up through international tacit knowledge exchange and has worked in innovation at LG and Rolls-Royce. Together, they discuss embracing uncertainty, collaborating successfully and the momentum for change, with Professor Hughes summarising the exchange in a set of key takeaways.

If you would like to find out more about these insights, Professor Hughes hosts a podcast where he interviews guests, who are typically entrepreneurs, business leaders and scholars about overcoming crisis, generating resilience, and achieving resurgence. It is available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify and SoundCloud.
