The winners of the School of Business and Economics 2020 Dean's Awards have now been announced. The awards recognise the outstanding contributions of our staff, students and graduates.

This year, there are four categories, including two news ones: Student Awards; Staff Awards; Student Choice awards (new for 2020); Neil Doherty Award (new for 2020). Unfortunately, we were unable to celebrate with the award winners this year at our annual dinner, as it was cancelled due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

The Dean's Awards to Students went to:

  • Dean's Award for Student Enterprise: Charlie Rogers (International Business)
  • Dean's Award for Student Employability: Steve Malik (Management Sciences)
  • Dean's Award for Corporate Social Responsibility: Ryan McGee (Management Sciences)
  • Dean's Award for International Student: Shishir Pankaj-Bhatia (Accounting and Financial Management)
  • Dean's Award for Outstanding Achievement: Flany Koulibaly (International Business)

The Dean's Awards to Staff went to:

The SBE “Student-Choice” Awards

The SBE “Student-Choice” Awards is a new award category whereby students have recognised academic staff for their outstanding contribution to the student experience.

The “Student Choice” Awards are separated into four categories, distinguishing both UG & PG academic staff who have not only produced an exceptional quality of teaching but have also been most supportive to students outside the context of the classroom.

SBE “Student- Choice” Lecturer of the Year: This is an award that has recognised the lecturer with the best quality of teaching; classroom engagement; value from lectures; classroom interaction; feedback quality; and teaching material, all within the classroom context.

SBE “Student-Choice” Appreciation Award: This is an award that has recognised teaching staff who have been most supportive outside the context of the classroom. This individual has contributed the most to students’ personal development, wellbeing, career advice, and overall mentors

The Neil Doherty Award

The Neil Doherty Award has been established in memory of our colleague who worked for the School of Business and Economics for over 25 years until his premature passing in January 2017.  Professor Neil Doherty was an outstanding scholar and a great servant of the School, who selflessly went the extra mile in seeking to help others develop and succeed, both staff and students.

This award is given in recognition of an individual from within the School of Business and Economics, or who is associated with the School, who has an outstanding record of contributing to the development and success of others.

The School is extremely proud of its staff and students!
