Drs Karligash Glass and Anthony Glass invited as plenary speakers to the Annual AlmaU Forum in Kazakhstan

Dr Karligash Glass, Senior Lecturer in Financial Economics, and Dr Anthony Glass, Senior Lecturer in Economics, were recently invited to give plenary talks at the Annual AlmaU Forum in Kazakhstan.

They featured alongside many other distinguished speakers, including the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Vice-Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Vice-Chancellors of several Kazakhstani universities.

The Annual AlmaU Forum is a platform for discussions of new trends in education. This initiative brings together well-known Kazakh and international experts, leaders, representatives of government agencies, the business community and academia to discuss the values and trends that shape modern entrepreneurial education in a rapidly changing society.

The focus for the event was on topical issues related to the innovative economy, fostering innovative activities, creation of innovative climate, introduction of innovative management, development of entrepreneurial thinking and effective entrepreneurial education.

While on their trip, both lecturers were invited to a live TV program on Kazakh Business TV: Atameken Business. You can watch the interview here.

During their busy week, they also met with SBE alumna Aigerim Baimurzina whilst in Nursultan. Aigerim (pictured here) graduated with an MSc in Marketing and Management (with distinction) in 2011.

Karligash said:

“The trip to Kazakhstan was very productive. In addition to meeting with the plenary talks, we had meetings with executives of KazAtomProm, a local nuclear energy company along research lines.

“It is always wonderful meeting up with Loughborough alumni, and the meeting with the AlmaU Vice-Chancellor and Pro Vice-Chancellor we hope will start a fruitful collaboration. Many thanks to Professor M.N. Ravishankar for organising the various activities!”
