SBE Masters student signs with Loughborough Lightning for third year running

Peace Proscovia

Peace Proscovia, currently studying on the MSc Marketing programme, has re-signed for Loughborough Lightning Netball team.

Peace, originally from Uganda, played for Lightning in 2015 and 2016 and made her British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) debut recently with a 57-34 victory over University of Manchester. She was one of the stars of the Netball World Cup in 2015 and is now back with Lightning to continue her legacy after a change in visa regulations.

The Ugandan captain expressed her delight at being back at the University, saying:

I’m so thankful to the management of Loughborough Lightning for giving me the opportunity to come and play overseas as I never thought I’d have that chance – the 2015 and 2016 seasons fulfilled my dream. I’m privileged to be able to do a Master’s of Science in Marketing at Loughborough University and every single day I’m thanking god, as if it wasn’t for Loughborough I couldn’t do my studies overseas.

Karen Atkinson, Loughborough Lightning’s Head Coach, commented:

We are super excited to have Peace back for the third successive season with Loughborough Lightning.  It is even more special that she is able to start her Masters course, which she has been excited about for a long time.  It is also fantastic for our University Performance Squad that she can represent Loughborough University in the BUCS League.

Welcome back, Peace, and good luck with the upcoming season!
