An ORS Event: Simulation Workshop (SW18)

Presented By Operational Research Society (ORS)

About this event

19th - 21st March 2018 sees the return of the OR Society’s biennial simulation workshop (SW18). The conference boasts an excellent mix of delegates from the fields of simulation practice and research. It covers application and theoretical developments across all simulation methods, such as agent based simulation, system dynamics, discrete-event simulation and monte-carlo simulation.

The Programme

The SW18 Simulation Workshop event opens on Monday 19 March 2018 with registration at 11:00 followed by lunch for all delegates at 12:00 The conference ends on Wednesday 21 March 2018 at 15:00.

Tutorials
Proved to be very popular, tutorials are a key feature of this conference. Topics are chosen to allow delegates to find out more about the full range of simulation techniques. The tutorials on offer at this year’s conference are: -

  • Discrete Event Simulation by Prof. Stewart Robinson (Loughborough University)
  • Simheuristics by Dr Angel A. Juan, Open University Catalonia, Spain
  • Verification and Validation by Alan Robinson and Paul Glover (DSTL).
  • System Dynamics by Dr Martin Kunc (Warwick Business School)
  • Hybrid Modelling by Prof. Sally Brailsford (University of Southampton)
  • Agent Based Modelling by Dr Duncan Robertson (Loughborough University)

High quality talks – guaranteed
The conference typically features 30 high quality practitioner and researcher papers detailing applied case studies and theoretical developments in the field of computer simulation.

Posters
Poster presentations are a good alternative when a full paper presentation is too formal or not suitable for the project. This session provides valuable one-to-one feedback about the theory behind projects and useful discussions about practical realities and other related projects.
